Despite the Failing For Manville Party’s 2023 campaign promise that there would be NO tax increases for 5 years, Manville’s taxes went up $196,164.51 in 2024.
Joe and Tina will get to work immediately on the current tax assessment program. When Joe was on the Council, the Council approved assessments that must be done by the NJ State Constitution on a scheduled system that would go area by area over the course of 5-7 years, which would prevent residents from being taxed every single year on their property assessment. It was supposed to be fair and equal town-wide. Currently, every single resident is being assessed every year.

Joe and Tina will get moving on the Royce Brook Project, which has been left on the floor by the current governing body after Joe Lukac fought for and obtained the money to pay for the study. According to the study, once completed, several nature-based flood infrastructure projects will alleviate flooding in Manville (and Hillsborough) substantially by capturing stormwater runoff and gradually releasing it after a storm has passed.

Joe and Tina support raising houses and curbing buyouts in the flood zone to keep families in town who want to stay and protect our taxpayers from increases that would result from the collapse of our tax base. Under the current Failing For Manville Party leadership, the state went back on their plans to fund elevation and has left lifetime residents with only one option: moving out.

The Council is currently working on an ordinance to bring dangerous tractor trailer traffic through your neighborhood streets. Joe Lukac worked with the governing body to initiate the Street-Smart campaign and procured state grants to improve pedestrian safety in our community.

The Council recently voted to weaken the Landlord Ordinance, putting non-Manville residents over us. Joe Lukac co-wrote the ordinance with the Borough Attorney that had finally held out of town absentee landlords accountable for their rental properties. This ordinance greatly increased Manville residents’ safety while decreasing stress on our police force, who were responding to too many calls at these downtown properties.

Joe and Tina will demand answers from the state and federal government as to why, 3 years after Hurricane Ida, some of our residents are still homeless. Biden, Murphy, Watson-Coleman, and countless other Democrats came to town for a photo op with our Failing For Manville Party Mayor and proceeded to do absolutely nothing to help us.
“There are many other concerns to be addressed, but that list is being made as we speak by residents as we knock on their doors and get their own opinions and concerns. We've always proudly gone to doors and taken the residents’ voices to the governing body. The people speak through us, always.” -Joe and Tina
